H.R. 620, the ADA Education and Reform Act of 2017, also known as the “ADA Notification” bill, will be voted on by the House this Thursday, February 15. Please contact your Representatives now and ask them to vote ‘NO’ on H.R. 620. This bill would weaken the  Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and make it harder for people with disabilities to participate in the mainstream of society.

This bill would essentially strip away the civil rights of people with disabilities by removing any consequence for businesses with architectural barriers that violate the ADA unless and until a person with a disability provides them with a legal notice detailing how the business has violated the law. After that, the person with a disability would have to wait for six months or more for the business to fix the problem. Further, businesses would no longer have to provide access but only to make “progress.”

PVA and the disability community at large need your help to #SaveADA and defeat this bill. We, along with other national organizations have been flooding House offices with letters opposing H.R. 620. Now is the time for constituents to weigh in with their Representatives.

Here are two ways you can take action to help stop H.R. 620:

Today, on National Disability Call-In Day, we encourage you to call your Representative and ask them to vote “no” on H.R. 620.

Tomorrow, on Social Action Day, we need your help flooding social media with stories sharing your personal experiences about not being able to access a store, restaurant, hotel, or other public space because it was not accessible. Your Representative needs to hear those stories! You can tweet at them or post to their Facebook page. You can also comment on their Facebook posts with your story. Please use #NoHR620 and #SaveADA when posting and be sure to tag your representative specifically by including their Twitter or Facebook user name in your post.

A House Rules Committee hearing has been scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday, February 13 at 5:00 p.m. A vote on the House floor is likely to follow on Wednesday or Thursday. We need advocates to take action now to #SaveADA! Don’t let Congress rip the heart out of this section of the ADA.

Businesses have had enough time to comply with the ADA. As a disabled veteran I should not have to bear the burden of ensuring that businesses in my community are meeting their ADA obligations. #NoHR620 #SaveADA #1mission1pva

  1. I was diagnosed in March 2014 but was running around from doctor to doctor before I finally got a result that I was free from Multiple sclerosis (MS). Mine started on top and progressed into the bottom. I could walk very little but needed assistance as I have no balance. It is sad all the time that we thought this disease has no cure with all the technology we have while there are some formulas that can reverse all MS symptoms and get rid of it  . I’m passing this info to anyone at there because ( www multivitamincare .org ) has the right cure and caregiver to this disease ….I took various supplements, medicine prescribed by neurologist,PCP and physiotherapy still the disease is was progressing very fast until the Multiple sclerosis (MS) herbal remedies from that company .
